Turkcell, Vodafone Turkey and Türk Telekom market their LTE networks as 4.5G, and it is genuinely everywhere a visitor goes: Istanbul on both sides of the Bosphorus, Ankara, Izmir, the whole Antalya–Alanya coast, Cappadocia, the Aegean resorts and the motorways between them. Speeds are high in the cities and still comfortable in Bodrum or Fethiye in August.
5G licences were awarded in 2025 and the first city networks are switching on in 2026, so treat 4.5G as the baseline and 5G as a bonus in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. Signal fades on the high plateaus of the east and on mountain roads, and it is unreliable on ferries once you are well offshore.
