Existing customers stayed on their plans with no changes at first and are being moved to T-Mobile plans and systems in stages. There was never a UScellular tourist eSIM — its plans were monthly plans for US residents — and T-Mobile's own prepaid eSIM is likewise built for people living in the United States.

UScellular ran its own 4G LTE and 5G network across parts of 21 states, strongest in rural areas of Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Oregon and New England, and roamed onto the national carriers elsewhere.
