Using & Managing eSIMs
How do I enable Data Roaming?
Data Roaming needs to be turned on - otherwise your eSIM won't work abroad. This won't cause extra charges, since your data is already included in the plan. On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > select your eSIM > turn on Data Roaming On Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > eSIM > turn on Roaming On Samsung: Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > turn on Data Roaming
Can I use my physical SIM alongside the eSIM?
Yes! Most modern phones support Dual SIM (physical SIM + eSIM), with both active at the same time: • Physical SIM - for calls and SMS • eSIM - for mobile data Set your device to use the eSIM for data and the physical SIM for calls.
Can I top up my eSIM plan?
Yes, some plans support top-ups: 1. Open the Airalo app 2. My eSIMs > select your eSIM 3. Tap Top Up 4. Choose a top-up plan 5. Complete checkout Top-up data is added to your existing eSIM - no new installation needed. Not all eSIMs support top-ups, so check the plan details.
Can I use one eSIM on multiple devices?
No - an eSIM can only be active on one device at a time, and it can't be transferred. If you need data on another device, you'll need to buy a new eSIM.
Can I make calls and send texts with my eSIM?
Most AviaeSIM plans are data-only. However: • You can make calls and send messages using internet apps - WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, and so on • Some plans include voice call support (check the plan description) • Your physical SIM is still available for regular calls and SMS
Can I share my eSIM data with other devices (hotspot)?
It depends on the plan. Some allow hotspot/tethering, others don't. Check the plan details for hotspot availability. If supported: 1. Turn on Personal Hotspot in your device settings 2. Connect other devices via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB
How many eSIMs can I have on my device?
It depends on the device: • Newer iPhones: 8+ eSIM profiles • Newer Android devices: 5–8 eSIM profiles • Only 1–2 eSIMs can be active at once Install eSIMs for different destinations and switch between them whenever you need to.
What's the difference between local, regional, and global eSIMs?
• Local eSIMs: cover a single country and usually offer the best rates • Regional eSIMs: cover multiple countries within a region (e.g., Europe, Asia), with data shared across every supported country • Global eSIMs: cover countries across multiple regions worldwide - ideal for multi-destination trips
How do I check my data balance?
To check your data balance: 1. Open the Airalo app 2. My eSIMs > select your eSIM 3. View remaining data and validity You can also check on the AviaeSIM website once you're logged in. Note: usage data may not update in real time.
What happens when my data runs out?
When your data runs out: • Internet access via the eSIM stops • Buy a top-up if your plan supports it • Or buy a new eSIM • Your physical SIM data will still work (roaming charges may apply)
What is Data Roaming and why do I need to enable it?
Data Roaming lets your eSIM connect to partner networks at your destination. Because eSIMs rely on roaming agreements for coverage, Data Roaming must be switched on. This is different from carrier roaming - turning on Data Roaming for your eSIM will NOT cause extra charges, since the data is already included in your plan.
Can I keep my phone number while using an eSIM?
Yes! Your phone number is tied to your physical SIM, not the eSIM. While you're using an eSIM: • Your phone number stays the same • You still receive calls and texts on your physical SIM • The eSIM provides data only (in most cases)
When does my eSIM plan expire?
eSIM plan validity starts only when you first connect to a mobile network in your destination country. For example, a 7-day plan expires exactly 7 days after that first connection. Some plans count validity from the purchase date - check the plan details.
