About the operator

Beeline is one of the best-known mobile brands in Central Asia and the Caucasus, covering Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia for AviaeSIM travelers. Created in 1993 by VimpelCom — today the international group VEON — the black-and-yellow bee brand became a household name across the former Soviet region.

The three markets AviaeSIM covers on this network each tell their own story. In Uzbekistan, Beeline is run by VEON's subsidiary Unitel and ranks among the country's leading operators. In Kyrgyzstan, VEON sold the business in 2023, but the operator, Sky Mobile, kept the Beeline brand. In Georgia, Beeline was rebranded as Cellfie Mobile after VEON's exit in 2022 — many Georgians still say Beeline, and AviaeSIM's Georgia plans connect to this same network.

For trips along the old Silk Road — Tashkent and Samarkand, Bishkek and Issyk-Kul, Tbilisi and the Caucasus — a prepaid AviaeSIM eSIM on these networks installs by QR code before departure, skipping local SIM-registration queues and roaming charges.

Network & technology

Across Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia these networks run 2G, 3G and 4G/LTE, with LTE strongest in the capitals — Bishkek, Tashkent and Tbilisi — and in other major cities and tourist areas. Terrain is the common challenge: in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan, on Uzbek desert crossings and in Georgia's high Caucasus valleys, coverage follows towns and main roads and fades between them, and 5G is not yet widely available in any of these markets.

Reputation & market position

The bee-striped Beeline brand is among the most recognised in the former Soviet region, associated with mass-market prepaid service and dense retail networks. In Uzbekistan it is a top-tier operator; in Kyrgyzstan it is one of the three national carriers alongside MegaCom and O!; and in Georgia the rebranded Cellfie is the third operator behind Magti and Silknet, strongest in cities and along main corridors.

Pros

  • Established networks in all three covered markets, with solid LTE in the capitals
  • One familiar brand across Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan simplifies multi-country Silk Road trips
  • Georgia plans connect to Cellfie (ex-Beeline), with good coverage in Tbilisi and other cities
  • No local registration or roaming bills with an AviaeSIM prepaid travel eSIM

Cons

  • Mountain and desert coverage between towns is limited in all three countries
  • In Georgia the ex-Beeline network is the smallest of the three national operators
  • Buying a local SIM requires in-person passport registration in these markets

Frequently asked questions

Does Beeline support eSIM?

In Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Beeline issues eSIMs for compatible phones at its offices, with passport identification required by local SIM-registration rules. In Georgia, the former Beeline now operates as Cellfie Mobile and also offers eSIM in-store. If you would rather skip the office visit entirely, an AviaeSIM prepaid travel eSIM on these networks is issued fully online before you travel.

What happened to Beeline in Georgia?

It was rebranded. After VEON sold its Georgian business in 2022, the operator adopted the name Cellfie Mobile; the network and coverage carried on, and many locals still call it Beeline. AviaeSIM's Georgia travel eSIMs connect to this same network, so plans listed under Beeline for Georgia run on Cellfie's coverage.

How do I get a Beeline eSIM for Kyrgyzstan or Uzbekistan?

Locally, visit a Beeline office with your passport — both countries require in-person SIM registration, and city-centre offices in Bishkek and Tashkent can be busy. The alternative is a prepaid AviaeSIM travel eSIM on the same networks: buy it online before your trip, install it by scanning a QR code, and your data activates on arrival with no paperwork.

Which countries do AviaeSIM's Beeline-network plans cover?

AviaeSIM's catalog currently offers Beeline-network travel eSIMs for Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia, where the network is now branded Cellfie. Each plan is country-specific, so pick the destination you are flying to and check the plan page for its exact coverage. For a multi-country Silk Road itinerary, you can install several eSIM profiles side by side and switch as you cross borders.
