Claro eSIM — coverage, plans & network

Claro is the Latin American mobile brand of América Móvil, the Mexico City group controlled by the Slim family, and it operates in roughly seventeen countries from Guatemala to Argentina — each as a separate national operator with its own plans, shops and rules. Claro is one of the local networks listed on AviaeSIM's Uruguay and Paraguay plans, which is why this page looks at Claro's eSIM the way a visitor to Montevideo or Asunción meets it.

Claro Uruguay issues eSIMs to its own prepaid and postpaid customers, but a prepaid eSIM is only handed over in a Claro branch. Claro's other countries follow the same pattern with local variations. A travel eSIM installed before the flight is the way to skip the branch.

Claro Uruguay's help centre says any customer with a contract postpaid plan or a prepaid plan can request an eSIM instead of a new chip, provided the phone supports eSIM. The route depends on the plan: postpaid customers ask through the chat in the Mi Claro app or in a branch, while prepaid customers must go to a Claro branch. Activation has two conditions Claro spells out: the phone must be on Wi-Fi with at least 50% battery, and then the QR code is scanned under Settings → Cellular Data → Add plan on an iPhone or in the SIM manager on Android. Claro publishes no price for the eSIM on those pages, and guides say a prepaid line is registered to an identity document at the branch. Claro's operators in Paraguay and its other countries run their own, similar procedures.
